Further development of PBLi and CHALLENGE FRAP has moved beyond the scope of the project. The following sites listed below are involved with ongoing support and activities. Please check these sites for the latest upgrades, support information and discussion..

FAQs

This section deals with features of both CHALLENGE FRAP and PBL Interactive which were not well-documented in either the program help files or the manuals in the original eCDF package. If something has got you wondering, check out this section to see if the answer lies there.

  • CHALLENGE FAQ (opens a new website)
  • PBL Interactive FAQ (Note: this FAQ relates mainly to the original eCDF version of the software. Some of these issues have been addressed in more recent versions.)

File replacements to the original eCDF version of PBLi

This section lists files originally included in the deliverables, but which have been updated since the CD-ROM was pressed. Please download these and replace the old files on your own copies where indicated.

  • (updated 02/04/2009) There is an upgrade for both the PBLi Builder and Server software. Click here for details.
  • (updated 8/12/2006) Readme.txt in the \Challenge-FRAP\Installation\ folder
  • (updated 8/12/2006) Readme.txt in the \PBLi\Installation\PBLi-Builder\ folder
  • (updated 8/12/2006) Readme.txt in the \PBLi\Installation\PBLi-Player-only\ folder
  • (updated 8/12/2006) Horticulture-v2.scenario. This is a replacement scenario for the horticulture.scenario in \PBLi\Scenarios-and-resources\Exemplar-scenarios. Some prerequisites were changed so that items in the lab can also be tested when uncollected in that location.

Extra files which may be needed

  • dotnetfx.exe . This is the installation file for Microsoft's free .Net Framework 2.0. Both Challenge FRAP and PBLi require this program to be present prior to installation. Many computers will already have this installed but if this is not the case with your particular configuration, please download and install.
  • tscc.exe . This is a codec which may be required on some computers to view the *.avi scenario building training video. (click here for details)

Manual errata

  • For the original PBLi Manual.
    • Last paragraph on page 36. The text says "Create the Living room in the same way you created the first location (i.e. select the Add Tool and click in the environment window, then alter the default properties of..)". The text should say ""Create the Living room in the same way you created the first location (i.e. select the Add Tool and click in the location window, then alter the default properties of..)"
    • Page 117 - Missing text. Last paragraph should say "This section of the log file..."
