Note: During installation two threads run simultaneously. One is to install the PBLi program, the other to install the Microsoft .NET FRAMEWORK 2.0 module (if required). In some cases, the installation routine may appear to finish, but the .NET FRAMEWORK 2.0 installation could still be occurring in the background. If this is the case and the program is launched immediately an error may result. If this error occurs, just wait a minute or two and try again. .NET FRAMEWORK 2.0 should have finished installing by then and everything should be ok. On some machines .NET FRAMEWORK 2.0 installation doesn't seem to take place. If this occurs, and you get a message saying .Net Framework 2.0 is required, uninstall PBLi, then install .NET Framework 2.0 manually before installing PBLi. You can get .Net Framework 2.0 from the support section of website at http://pbl.massey.ac.nz or it can be downloaded from the Microsoft Site. Known Issues ------------ The following are "Known Issues" in version PBLi version 1.0 of the Client-Player. They will be addressed in a maintenance release(s). 1. Multi-choice reports will accept blank submissions, allowing "not selected" feedback for ALL options to be seen. This is not always desirable, so please be aware of this when planning scenarios. 2. Pre-requisite condition "is currently being--performed" sometimes does not work properly. Setting server and email settings in client-based player. ------------------------------------------------------- If tutors wish students reports and logs to be emailed to an email address, they must supply students with a configuration file with the smtp server and email settings. This configuration file must be be named PBLiApplication.exe.config, and must be copied over the existing PBLiApplication.exe.config in the \Program Files\PBLiPlayer\ subdirectory. The file, which can be edited in notepad, is a simple XML file and needs to contain the following text. All tutors need to do is copy the code above and paste it into a notepad text file, and edit the blank values so that the smpt server address and email address are included between the appropriate quotation marks. Then save the file as "PBLiApplication.exe.config" . Make sure the file name doesn't end in .txt. This is the file that will need to replace the default one, on all installations of the client builder, you want an emailed report to be sent from.
